Powerful nose with dark berry fruits, creamy vanilla and smoky oak too. All the flavours from the aroma follow through to the palate. Great structure and mouth-feel with fine grained tannins and long finish. Very pure fruit flavours. A classic Awaroa Melba Peach Reserve Syrah. Will age for 10+ years easily.
2019 VINTAGE 5 STARS Rich and refined, the vigorous 2019 vintage is estate-grown and matured for a year in French oak barriques (80 per cent new). Full-coloured, it is fragrant and concentrated, with an array of berryish, plummy, spicy, nutty flavours, showing excellent complexity, supple tannins and a long finish. A very harmonious, savoury, ageworthy red, it's well worth cellaring to 2025+.
2018 VINTAGE 5 STARS Currently delicious, the 2018 vintage was matured for a year in French oak barriques (67 per cent new). Mouth filling and savoury, it has generous, ripe berry, plum and spice flavours, slightly earthy notes adding complexity and a final poised, well-structured finish. Drink now or cellar.
2015 VINTAGE 5 STARS Is a concentrated, finely textured Waiheke Island red. Well worth cellaring, it has rich blackberry, spice, liquorice and toasty oak flavours, fine-grained tannins, and excellent balance and length. (2020 MC guide) - Micheal Cooper
2014 VINTAGE 5 STARS Dark and dense, the powerful 2014 vintage is still very youthful. Matured for a year in French oak barriques (50 per cent new), it has highly concentrated, ripe plum and black-pepper flavours, woven with fresh acidity, and a tightly structured, long, spicy finish. - Micheal Cooper
